Lactose Free Products
Anyone who has ever found out the hard way that they are lactose intolerant understands how important it is to discover what products are
truly lactose free. Are you not sure whether or not you really are lactose intolerant?
Those who suffer from lactose intolerance experience nausea which can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, and other uncomfortable symptoms.
Quite a few people discover that they are lactose intolerant after they notice nausea immediately after consuming certain milk
products.
The level of lactose intolerance varies from person to person. There are some individuals who only experience discomfort after drinking
whole milk or eating cheese. Those who suffer from mild lactose intolerance often choose to simply avoid that specific product.
Others have a much more sever level of lactose intolerance which causes them to be ill whenever they consume any product that contains
milk. Such intolerance means that one must be extremely careful when deciding what to eat and what to avoid.
Maintaining a lactose free diet like Lactosefrei usually begins in the grocery store where it is up to the consumer to find lactose free products.
When searching for suitable lactose free products it is very important that shoppers take the time to read all labels rather than assume that
they are milk protein free.
Many products contain trace amounts of milk or milk protein that are often overlooked. Quite a few products that one would think have no
milk can cause someone with severe lactose intolerance to have a very negative reaction after consumption.
Many stores are beginning to stock a wider variety of foods specifically for lactose intolerant shoppers. Soy milk that is lactose free
can be found in most supermarkets along with lactose free cheeses. There are several organic, lactose free cheeses that taste great and are
perfect for cooking.
Also most Vegan food products are free of all milk proteins and are very tasty. If you are trying a product for the first time take a moment
in the store and read the label for every ingredient. This usually only has to be done once. If you consume a product in any large
quantity and do not notice any negative side affects you can usually mark it as safe to eat.
Things get a little bit trickier when you are out at restaurants. Some restaurants disclose the ingredients of their products, or at
least offer a warning on all products containing eggs, undercooked meat, or milk protein. Unfortunately many restaurants do not offer these
warnings so it is up to the consumer to ask the restaurant if the product contains any milk at all.
In the event that you are someone who has extremely severe lactose intolerance who does not want to take a chance there are a few safe food
options. Broth based soups and stews are usually safe but all chowders should be avoided.
Foods with cream sauces and many types of bread should also be avoided. Some water based breads, such as Italian bread, are usually
safe. Also, when eating pasta sauce make sure the sauce does not contain any milk and/or cheeses.
